Thanksgiving: A holiday that reminds us to be thankful for what we have - good health, family, friends, and financial stability to name just a few. And yet, the very next day, we race to stores, ramming people with shopping carts, and fighting others for stuff we likely don’t need. Just yesterday we celebrated our plenty and now we act like what we have is just not enough. On top of that, on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday we receive the benefit of special deals that end up saving us money. Doesn’t it make sense to pass that blessing on to others? After all of the hustle and bustle of the shopping frenzies have finished, we now have the opportunity to find balance through a more charitable option called #GivingTuesday.

#GivingTuesday began in 2012 by the United Nations Foundation. It was created as a response to the crazy consumerism in the days prior. #GivingTuesday uses the power of social media, hashtags, and end-of-the-year tax deductions to encourage charity work and donations to nonprofit organizations.

After Thanksgiving, people begin thinking about end-of-the-year giving opportunities. All charitable donations are tax deductible. Learn more about charitable tax deductions here.

If we have peeked your interest and you looking for a way to celebrate #GivingTuesday, keep in mind BLC is a non-profit, faith-based community providing programs, services and living options for those 55 and older. Individuals who choose to donate to BLC will be enhancing the lives of our residents who are either living within one of our communities or receiving health care or therapy services at one of our facilities.

BLC is currently accepting charitable donations to our newest community, The Seasons @ Alexandria in Alexandria, Kentucky. Sizable donations will be recognized with beautiful leaves on our artistically designed Tree of Life, which is a part of the decor on this campus, while larger donors may have halls or buildings named after them. For more information about donating to The Seasons @ Alexandria, please contact Lynda Schunder at (859) 283-8618.

In addition to financial donations, there are also options to give back through BLC. For instance, you can donate time by volunteering at one of our Northern Kentucky locations.

If you would like to ensure that your legacy continues to live on through BLC, please contact Lynda Schunder at (859) 283-8618. Our corporate team is happy to work with you and your financial institution to make this happen.
