As our country is trying to return to normal, our BLC communities are continuing to be committed to the quality care of our residents and/or your loved ones. Our staff throughout the organization has been nonstop with ensuring our residents remain engaged, safe, healthy and happy under these unique circumstances.
Now is the time to start thinking about that person who has been on your mind whose health may be slightly declining and you wonder what the future holds for them and what next steps to take.
Let’s take a moment to focus on the Personal Care services we offer at The Seasons@Alexandria.
You may not be familiar with the term “Personal Care”; maybe you call it “Assisted Living” but those are two different services. Be sure and know the facts before making any decisions.
Personal Care vs Assisted Living
BLC understands you want to stay in the comfort of your own home for as long as you can. That’s why we have professionals on staff to talk to you about all your options before making a life changing decision. We want you to feel at home, but in a safe and monitored environment. You want to keep your independence, but can no longer safely live alone. This is where Personal Care comes in so you’re not handling day-to-day struggles on your own.
Personal Care (PC) must be licensed by the State, requires an annual survey, and regulations must be followed.
Assisted Living (AL) facilities are only certified; not licensed.
PC provides assistance with ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living).
AL gives reminders of ADL’s.
PC must meet a minimum level of care.
There is no level of care required with AL.
PC staff is authorized to communicate with Physicians and Pharmacies.
AL staff cannot take orders for changes in medications, determine dosage or administer injections. Medication reminders only.
Long-Term-Care insurance usually covers all or a portion of PC.
There are fewer long-term-care insurance policies that cover AL along with having more requirements.
The Seasons@Alexandria’s Personal Care offers assistance with daily living such as:
- 24/7 Staff Supervision
- Weekly Housekeeping, Daily Tidying
- Laundry Service
- Emergency Response System
- Restaurant Style Dining
- Medication Management
Active Adult Lifestyle
Studies have shown that senior adults who are active have decreased rates of disease, depression, improved immune systems, decreased risks of falls, improved cognitive function, and higher social engagement. Healthy living is just as important to us as it is to you and your families. We proudly offer an abundance of scheduled events, activities & creativity for our residents.
Come talk to us about your options and what would be best for you or a loved one. We can assist with guiding you in the right direction and provide resources.
